Hi Everyone, I just wanted to remind you that our annual "Turnout" is this coming Saturday starting around 11:30 and going to around 4:00. All members and their guests are welcome. Each club member is asked to bring either a side dish, a dessert, or some sodas/bottled water. If your last name starts with A through G, bring sodas/bottled water, Last name from H through O should bring a dessert, and Last name from P through Z should bring a side dish. Plan on enough for 6 – 8 servings. RAFFLE
- Once again, Bill Kost will conduct the raffle. For those new to this,
here is how it works. Each member is asked to donate an item to the
raffle, whether it be a turned item, an old tool, supplies, books, wood
blanks, certificate for something, or whatever your creative mind can
come up with. We will have all the items on tables, with a cup next to
each one. We will sell tickets for $0.50 each, which the ticket buyer
will place in the cup next to the item they desire. At the end of the
day, a ticket will be drawn from each cup, and that ticket holder is the
winner of the item. More tickets in each cup increase your odds of
winning, and a cup with few tickets in it is an invitation for a cheap
acquisition. It is always entertaining. DIRECTIONS - Official directions are on this website http://www.kinderfarmpark.org
. Look under “How to find us”. Lou said to add: Turn left at Gali
Sanchez Way, follow to last house on the right. ( I just take Benfield
Blvd to Jumpers Hole road, and then turn at the park.) Other Items: ITEMS FOR THE MD HALL SHOW - Please don't forget to bring the items that you want to enter into the show that we are doing at Maryland Hall next month. (Release form is below) Alan Leland Class - We still have a few openings for the Alan Leland class on September 14th. The class will focus on the skills and techniques used to add detail to bowl & platter rims, spindle turning and then applying these skills towards turning a lamp. Cost of the class will be $160 including wood and electrical parts for your project. Lathe for Sale - Jerry Lear,
a member of Baltimore Area Woodturners has a Vic Marc Lathe that he
would like to sell. It is a VL-300 short-bed, w/a 3 HP Lesson Motor,
24" swing, and 21" between centers. The lathe is in excellent condition
and he would like to sell it locally to avoid crating & shipping.
