Turnout Saturday 18 August 2018

posted Aug 15, 2018, 6:54 AM by Chesapeake Woodturners
This Saturday’s August meeting is our annual Turnout.

As per tradition, the meeting will be held at Lou Rudinski’s home in Kinder Farm Park.

The gathering starts at 11:30 AM but early birds willing to help set out tables and chairs are welcomed.  Our grill-meister Bill Kost will be returning this year after a year’s absence, so look forward to excellent burgers, brats, and grilled chicken.  We will have a short business meeting after lunch, show and tell, and a special display of turnings made from wood from the April sale of Jerry Rosenberger’s collection.  A People’s Choice Award for the best work from that collection will carry a $50 prize.  The meeting will close with our annual raffle of fabulous discards from our shops and woodpiles.

The club supplies the hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, and chicken to grill; buns are also provided. The club also supplies ice, plates, cups, plastic ware. Lou as usual will supply fresh picked corn to compliment the meal. We ask that each attendee bring either a side dish, a dessert, or sodas and water enough to feed 6-8 people.A great idea is fresh garden tomatoes, onions, cucumber salad, baked beans, garden salsa, homemade coleslaw, salads etc.

If your name starts from A - H  bring a side dish, and I - Q  should bring dessert,  R -Z  bring either water, soda, etc.Lou has large coolers full of ice.

We will have the infamous Chesapeake Woodturners raffle, each person donates an item(s) to the raffle, old books on turning, or woodworking, old tools, a turned item, wood blanks, or anything creative. Tickets are $0.50 each, we will place a cup next to each item, after signing each ticket you purchase, you may place as many tickets as you wish in a specific cup(s). One ticket is drawn from each cup, that person wins that item. There is no limit on winning ( or losing ) It's a lot of fun, most everyone goes home with something.

The weather is reliably terrific for the Turnout; and this year promises to uphold tradition.  It should be warm and sunny.  There’s a chance for rain late in the day…when we’re all back at home.
